Jubilee Saturday on the Islington canals

Last Saturday Katie and I met up with my old friend Rose, who was in town for the weekend, and she showed us around the cool neighborhood of Islington (kind of like Park Slope having a baby with Greenwich Village, with a dash of Williamsburg thrown in, for the New York set). The highlight was a little picnic canal-side during the sunny portion of the afternoon. What you don't see here are the kids playing with the locks and fishing with maggots (one of which ended up on my sleeve due to the strong breeze). There are lots of houseboats that people live in seemingly full time, with elaborate gardens, solar panels, and the like.
